Lake Verea at La Caja Negra

On view through 28 July at the Madrid gallery La Caja Negra is ‘Paparazza Moderna Chapter II: Rudolf Schindler and Richard Neutra in California,’ an exhibition of the artistic duo formed by Francisca Rivero-Lake Cortina (Mexico City, 1973) and Carla Verea Hernández (Mexico City, 1978). An important part of their photographic work has involved documenting modern architecture, beginning with buildings by Luis Barragán. With their particular view of things, straying far from conventional architectural photography, the team Lake Verea captures historical constructions and reflections of their inhabitants in the ‘Paparazza Moderna’ series. It has three chapters: the first on new England houses by Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer, the second on six California houses by Rudolf M. Schinderl and Richard J. Neutra, and the third on Mies van der Rohe and Philip Johnson.
