Laurens & Loustau, therapeutic complex in Toulouse (France)

Commissioned by the Toulouse-based organization APEAJ (Association pour l'Education et l'Apprentissage des Jeunes), which caters to the education and rehabilitation of young people with mild intellectual disabilities and personality disorders, Marc Laurens and Pierre Loustau have built ITEP Le Home (Institut Thérapeutique Éducatif Pédagogique). The design of the French practice places shipping containers among autonomous buildings with pitched roofs. A red carpet connects the volumes to one another. The small 900-square-meter complex contains workshops, facilities for therapy, a gymnasium, offices, and living spaces for intern students.
