This volume is the second edition of the work published in 2006 coinciding with the exhibition on architecture in Spain held at the MoMA. Conceived as a prologue for the recent projects displayed there, the book covered the architecture of democracy – with a long introduction devoted to the architecture of Franco's years – with the aim of giving a historical perspective to the current panorama, and appeared in bilingual Spanish-English edition with the sponsorship of the Fundación BBVA. Now, to mark Spain's presence at Expo Shanghai, and under the auspices of the SEEI and the Fundación ICO, the oeuvre is extended with a chapter that reviews the last five years, adding Chinese to the original languages.
