Nouvelle AOM to renovate Monparnasse Tower in Paris
Dominique Perrault Architecture
The French team Nouvelle AOM – composed of the firms Franklin Azzi, Chartier Dalix, and Hardel + Le Bihan – has been selected to renovate the Tour Montparnasse skyscraper in time for the Paris Olympics of 2024. It won the international competition for the 300-million-euro project, carrying the day over Architecture Studio, Dominique Perrault, MAD, OMA, PLP, and Studio Gang. Inaugurated in 1973, the 209-meter-tall tower was the first office building to go up in the city center. The winning design incorporates new uses, systems to optimize energy performance, and transparent facades. On view until 22 October at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal are the entries of all seven contestants.
