The Ávila-based firm ABLM arquitectos, headed by Arturo Blanco and Laura Martínez, tackled this preschool and primary school by considering the scale of chidren of Villares de la Reina, a municipality in the Salamanca county of La Armuña. The 2,600-square-meter educational building was raised in 18 months on an investment of 2 million euros. Access is through a large plinth with a ceramic cladding, formed by vertical pieces of seven different colors symbolizing the uniqueness of each child and equality among all children. The upper levels are clad with composite panels of Stacbond aluminum, the mirror finish of which reflects the surroundings and dilutes contours.
