House in Comporta (Portugal)

José Manuel Martínez Rodríguez

The  Asturian architect José Manuel Martínez Rodríguez, a professor at the Valladolid School of Architecture, has finished a one-family vacation house with views of Pego Beach in Comporta (Portugal). The strong identity of the area is transferred to the design of the house through respect for the traditional architecture that is part of the landscape. To make the most of the buildable area but in keeping with the scale of the place, the architect disperses the domestic uses in separate spaces on a single level. Built with loadbearing walls of thermoclay and with wooden enclosures, these boxes are completely autonomous functionally, formally, and structurally. Connecting them are living-room areas and open-air terraces.
