‘SOM: Engineering x [Art & Architecture]’ in Chicago

As part of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, on view through 7 January at the Mana Contemporary Pop-up space on Morgan St. is an exhibition on the work of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM). In over eighty years the Chicago firm has built a huge number of high-rise buildings, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which at 828 meters is the current tallest in the world. Its research straddling architecture, art, and engineering is presented here in different ways: drawings, interactive sculptures, videos, and thirty large models.
