David Chipperfield Architects Works 2018 in Italy

On view through 2 September at the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza is an exhibition on twenty recent projects of the firm David Chipperfield Architects, founded in 1985 and working from offices in London, Berlin, Milan, and Shanghai. The displays range from sketches and models related to the start of the design process all the way to final construction details, including photographs and videos. Each design team was made to present its own project. The result is a very clear differentiation between different paces of work and the importance given to each phase of the project, depending on its nature: competitions, commissions, public buildings, private developments. The concept of the show emphasizes the design process, presening it not as an act of individual genius but as a collaborative and iterative method which is unpredictable.
