OMA, Innovation Tower in Stockholm

The Dutch practice OMA – headed by Rem Koolhaas – has carried out its first work in Sweden, following a project of Reinier de Graaf. The Innovation Tower is the tallest residential building in the center of Stockholm – rising 125 meters in 26 floors offering 182 apartments – and the first to be completed of the two that have been planned for the firm Oscar Properties on this site of the Hagastaden district. The other one, the Helix Tower – 100 meters, 32 floors, 138 units – will be finished late in 2019. A modular system of prefabricated concrete panels is used to materialize the stacked and staggered composition of protruding windows and balconies, inspired in brutalist architecture.
