18th Tile of Spain Awards

There are new holders of the Tile of Spain Awards for Architecture and Interior Design, organized by the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association (ASCER) to draw attention, precisely, to the use of ceramic tiles in works of architecture and interior design. On this eighteenth cycle’s jury sat Jacob van Rijs (MVRDV), Inês Lobo (Inês Lobo arquitectura), David Lorente (H Arquitectes), Eugeni Bach (Anna & Eugeni Bach), Héctor Ruiz Velázquez (Ruiz Velázquez Architecture & Design Team), Tomoko Sakamoto (Spread editores), and Ramón Monfort (CTAC). The Architecture award went to PICHarchitects/Pich-Aguilera & 2BMFG for the Santa Creu & Sant Pau Hospital Research Center in Barcelona, and the Interior Design one to José María Sánchez García for the waiting area of a bus station in Villanueva de la Serana (Badajoz). Each of these two main awards comes with a monetary prize of 17,000 euros.  Óscar Cruz García of the Madrid School of Architecture (UPM-ETSAM) triumphed in the Final Degree Project section for ‘Memento Mori,’ winning 5,000 euros.
