Lederer + Ragnarsdóttir + Oei, Kunstmuseum in Ravensburg (Germany)

Called the 'city of towers' because of its medieval urban core, the German city of Ravensburg has opened a new museum of modern art built by the Stuttgart office that Arno Lederer runs with his partners Jórunn Ragnarsdóttir and Marc Oei. The brick facades – built with recycled materials – blend into the environment by using the sober language of the surrounding historic constructions. The counterpoint is provided by the rhythmic play of the windows and the lobes of the vaulted roof, whose dynamic character is expressed inside through the color of the exposed brick, which contrasts with the dominant white of the exhibition galleries.
