DOSarchitects, winner of the Renzo Piano Foundation Award for 2013

The Renzo Piano Foundation Award – for Italian architects under the age of forty – has on its second edition gone to DOSarchitects, the London-based practice of Lorenzo Grifantini and Tavis Wright. The winning design, Duncan Terrace, involves the rebuilding and restructuring of an 1850 residential block in London’s Islington neighborhood. Given by Piano’s foundation and the Italian Association of Architecture and Criticism, the honor comes with a 10,000 euro prize. Two other projects have each received a special mention: the Sisma offices in Vicenza, by Elisa Dalla Vecchia, and the new Cenate Sotto primary school in Bergamo, by Tomas Ghisellini.
