In the context of the 8th eme3 architecture festival, held last June in Barcelona under the theme ‘Topias: Utopias Becoming Real’, the experimental pavilion Brick-Topia was presented by their designers, the group MAP13 – Marta Domènech, David López and Mariana Palumbo – with Paula López and Josep Brazo. Selected in the festival’s ‘Build-it’ section, which called for a container of cultural activities to be set up in the outer courtyard of the old thread factory Fabra i Coats, the project presents a complex vaulted geometry using tiles in the traditional ‘Catalan vault’ system, combined with digital tools for structural optimization through geometry so that the roof works only with compression stresses. The pavilion can be visited all through July.
