Juan Socas, Fondation La Rozavère enlargement in Lausanne

A design by Juan Socas has won the competition called by the Fondation La Rozavère to build a residential block within its premises for the care of elderly people in the Swiss city of Lausanne. Set amid gardens and conceived as an element joining two preexisting building, the new volume is simple and compact and laid out around an inner court. It is inserted into the complex by means of light chamfers, establishing continuity between its facades of white concrete and the adjacent constructions through the rhythm of openings and the composition of frames and shutters. Access to the complex is through a large foyer that connects the new and old parts. Circulation elements for residents and staff clearly separate at this point.
