ERCO at the new Fondazione Prada in Milan

A work of the firm of Rem Koolhaas, the Milanese center of the Fondazione Prada rises on the site of an early 20th -century distillery, maintaining its original industrial character and adding three buildings. The exhibition and outdoor areas of the 19,000-square-meter culture and art complex are equipped with a range of tools manufactured by ERCO, a company based in the German city of Lüdenscheid which is a leader in architectural lighting through LED technology.

Parscan and Optec spotlights are combined with Pantrac lens wall-washers to address the illumination requirements of the exhibition spaces, sometimes accentuating the art pieces, but in general uniform and glare-free. The galleries are bathed in a neutral white light, while the exterior gaps between buildings are given solutions that give a warm white light. Outside, beamer spotlights are inserted in the paved pathways, and Lightscan floodlights are installed on the ground around the entrance.
