Outside Barcelona is this house recently renovated by Arquitectura – G, the Catalan firm of Jonathan Arnabat, Jordi Ayala-Bril, Aitor Fuentes, and Igor Urdampilleta. Built early in the 20th century as a summer home, the 260-square-meter dwelling has been turned into the first residence of a young couple with two children. The intervention involved emptying the central nave and putting the new stairs here. The new staircase in turn contains a powder room. Connecting the two existing levels, this vertical piece – whose presence is accentuated by a slab of glass – serves to organize the spaces, with rooms placed along the facade to optimize natural ventilation and the entrance of sunlight.
