Reichstag Visitors Center competition

We now know the winners of the anonymous international competition for an information and visitor center at the Reichstag, home to the German parliament, which was renovated by Norman Foster in the 1990s. Covering a floor area of  6,600 square meters, the future intervention will connect the new pavilion to the Reichstag by means of a tunnel, in the process incorporating existing underground infrastructures. A total of 187 teams – composed of architects and landscape architects – submitted entries, and two have won first prize: Markus Schietsch with Lorenzs Engster & Städtebau (Zurich), and Markus Bonauer, Michael Bölling, and rw+ Gesellschaft with capattistaubach. Special mentions went to five projects, drawn up by: Burgos & Garrido + FRPO Rodríguez & Oriol (Madrid), with VWA + Uberland (Vevey, Switzerland); bob-architektur BDA, Köln con FSWLA (Düsseldorf); Henn with BBP Bauconsulting (Berlin); Allmann Sattler Wappner con Schüller (Munich); and finally ARGE KIM NALLEWEG and César Trujillo Moya with TDB Thomanek Duquesnoy Boemans (Berlin).
