Competition for visitor reception center in Clunia (Burgos)

A project drawn up by the Seville firm of Antonio Tejedor and Mercedes Linares has won the competition called by the Provincial Government of Burgos to build a visitor reception center, with parking facilities, at the archaeological site of Colonia Clunia Sulpicia, the Roman city located between the towns of Coruña del Conde and Peñalba de Castro, in Burgos province. The winning entry takes off from the idea of integrating the new building into the landscape, so it is made to adapt to the natural slope of the terrain, creating a continuity with the mountain through landscaped roofs. Inside, the design is a reinterpretation of Roman domestic architecture. The other four teams shortlisted were Tabuenca & Leache;  Antonio Paniagua; Carlos Pereda, Óscar Pérez, Enrique Jerez, and Koldo Fernández; and Marín-Martín-Sánchez, in that order. Among the eighteen participants was José Ignacio Linazasoro, in collaboration with Ricardo Sánchez.
