The national arts fund (FNA) of Argentina’s culture ministry has honored Mario Corea (Rosario, 1939) with its architectural career award for 2016, citing his intellectual and creative work and its part in enriching the country’s cultural heritage. He was handed the prize in a ceremony held on 5 December at the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Buenos Aires, with the FNA’s architecture director, Enrique García Espil, highlighting a commitment to public works that has been materialized through the construction of schools, hospitals, and health centers. Since 1981 Mario Corea has worked on projects in Spain, the rest of Europe, and Latin America from an office in Barcelona. He has taught in universities around the world and currently serves as academic director of LA(H)B Laboratorio Arquitectura Hospitalaria Barcelona.
