In memory of the victims and survivors of the Nazi persecution, and with the aim of teaching future generations about the dangers of hate and prejudices, a competition was organized to gather proposals for a UK Holocaust Memorial and a learning center underneath it – in Victoria Tower Gardens, adjacent to the Palace of Westminster, home of the British Parliament. Out of ninety participants, ten have been shortlisted: Adjaye Associates and Ron Arad Architects; Allied Works; Zaha Hadid Architects and Anish Kapoor; Caruso St John Architects with Marcus Taylor and Rachel Whiteread; Diamond Schmitt Architects; Foster + Partners and Michal Rovner; Heneghan Peng; John McAslan + Partners and MASS Design Group; Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects with David Morley Architects; and Studio Libeskind with Haptic Architects. The winner will be announced in the summer.
