The design of Buitenverblijf Nest, a holiday home in Arnhem, draws from aviaries and birdhouses to make it blend into the forest landscape of Hoge Veluwe national park, formerly occupied by army barracks. It is one of eleven shelters camouflaged amid treetops, in reference to the history of the place.

Raised 8 meters over the ground over slender metal legs, the gabled volume is clad in wood and includes spaces for nesting. Buitenverblijf Nest has a terrace, a living room, and a kitchen which is compact, as is the furniture, for a more efficient use of space. On the upper levels we find the bathroom and the bedroom crowning the building, with a bed large enough for four people. The circular windows and the sliding doors give impressive views of the surroundings. Solar panels on the roof generate energy.
