Expansion of Tocumen International Airport

In March 2013, 24 kilometers from the center of Panama City, construction of Tocumen International Airport's Terminal 2 began. Phase 1 of Norman Foster's expansion was completed and operations started at the end of April 2019. Containing 85,000 square meters in four levels, the new infrastructure seeks to address the continued growth of passenger traffic and give the Central American's socioeconomic development and tourism a boost. Under a bronze roof that lets natural light in, two symmetrical wings stretch east and west. The curve of the facade makes for a large number of gates and minimizes walking distances.
